Cacao powder is so very nutritious -- look it up. This combined with the mint leaves and spinach make this smoothie not only tasty but delicious -- you will like it! In any smoothie if you are watching weight, use the superfoods over loads of fruit. Don't get me wrong, fruit is so good for you, but too many in a smoothie will spike your blood sugar and if you do this too much, you will gain weight. Opt more for the green goodness "stuff" -- the kale, spinach, romaine, dandelion greens, swiss chard, mint, etc. Then add one fruit or two to sweeten -- dates are excellent for health as well as a great smoothie sweetener. Look up health benefits of the date -- you will be surprised! And, the avocado -- what a fabulous fruit choice that is!Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups almond milk, unsweetened, or coconut water (preferably Harmless Harvest coconut water)
1 tablespoons cacao powder
2 cups fresh spinach
1/2 cups fresh mint leaves
2 medjool dates, pitted
banana (frozen or fresh)
Optional: cacao nibs sprinkled on top
Directions:
Add into blender in order above -- blend on smoothie setting or start on 1 and increase to high and blend 20-30 seconds or until well blended.
