Baked Beans

My friend, Gina, was serving these wonderful baked beans one evening, Brit, while you were at her house for a cook-out.  I remember you came home and said I just had to get this recipe....as they were the best baked beans ever!  So, I did.  You were so right, Brit -- they are simply delicious -- and easy to make. Thank you, Gina, for sharing.

Ingredients:
2 large cans pork and beans -- buy the tallest cans you can find
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 pound bacon or to taste -- fry crispy and break into pieces
2 tablespoons prepared mustard - use plain yellow mustard
1 medium onion, chopped finely
1 cup ketchup
1 bell pepper, chopped (I use red)
hot sauce to taste (I use 5 drops)  -- like Texas Pete or Tabasco

Directions:
Mix together in a large bowl above ingredients.

Pour into a 9 x 13 x 2 casserole dish or a large round baking dish -- or go to grocery store and buy the aluminum foil pans in the baking isle -- convenient to take to picnics.

Bake:  350 Degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 Hours --  Watch closely starting at one hour -- remove from oven when beans are bubbly!

Note:  If you're in a huge rush, just buy the Real Bacon Bits -- it's already crumbled and ready to use.
